Andrea
A girl who is constantly smiling, that loves to live her life and enjoy herself.
“ I am very hardworking, I have been since a young age as I had to be a brave soldier and that takes a lot of work. To this day I am 4 years old. I have sacrificed three very “complicated” years but I am in the best stage of my life, one where I will keep advancing little by little and can enjoy myself each step of the way”.
Andrea has cerebral paralysis at just 4 years of age. She is a child from Grenada, Spain. In the past she had tried many other devices to assist her in the day to day. However, none of these have helped. Now she is happy with her Hiru.
Andrea’s mum, Cristina, loves meeting other families just like hers and sharing their experiences. Families who envision a different world to the one we live in now.
You can follow Andreas’ adventures on her mothers Instagram.
In this video you will be able to see Andreas first achievements with her Hiru and Elisabetta’s helping efforts.
Fran Vivó
“Personal testimonies are the best way to give more visibility to these experiences”.
Fran is from Benaguasil, Valencia, Spain where he used to be a firefighter. He is 33 years old and suffers from ALS ( Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Fran always greets us with a huge smile. He is a fighter and knows the difficulties he has to confront before him, but he will never give up.
Fran is from a big family that consists of eight brothers, which are bending over backwards in order to help him.
The 21st of june, global day of recognition of ALS, Fran and his whole family, including children, as well as a few friends and neighbours, carried out a virtual race that was organized by the ADELA CV association. ADELA works within the Valencian community to improve the quality of life of the sick and give visibility to this degenerative disease that affects more than 3000 adults in Spain. With these actions they look for more in depth research and resources for those affected.
In the photo Fran is with his grandfather. Both have lost their mobility, but they have managed to be together. More about their story/related stories/his story can be found on Instagram.
You can listen and watch his story in his own words in this video.
Dani
“I have cerebral palsy due to severe hypoxia during childbirth (cardiac arrest). I am a lion and I communicate through the gaze of my eyes. We play, learn, enjoy certain things, but abhor others….. All of us are children. All of us have wants and needs, and it’s much easier to live with one another when we integrate them into our day to day and respect them. It’s not so difficult. We should try and find similarities amongst ourselves, we would be surprised to find that we have much more in common than what we initially thought. Because all of us are different, but we are also the same”.
Dani is a child from Grenada, Spain. Thanks to Elisabetta, the AACS professional that is by his side, they have found the best device for Dani, and now he is happy with his Hiru.
You can find out more about Dani on his instagram mis_ojos_azules where he shares many stories about his day to day.
